Bourbon Street Bistro is phenomenal ! Just had dinner with six of my friends, the food was great, staff was super down to earth, and the live jazz band they have on Fridays is great!! I had the babyback ribs and they were outta this world fellas! They smoke them on the premises and their whiskey sauce is to die for! Also we had the jambalaya and I'm not lying when I say you AREN'T GONNA BEAT THIS JAMBALAYA! Was really impressed with how our waiter was going back and forth inside waiting on us and outside to tend to the smoker! Main goal was to make sure our experience there was good. Definitely will spread the word, but right now it feels like our little secret!

Went in for lunch today with my wife. Had the Oyster Po'boy and Gumbo. The wife had the Blackened Catfish and Jambalaya. The service was excellent and the food was good but, sadly not great. The coleslaw was very good, the corn bread was a bit too moist and dense, the so-called "Blackened" catfish, was not really blackened. The Jambalaya was good but a bit dry. Jambalaya comes in many forms but the best walks a fine line between stew (or Gumbo) and dirty rice. I thought the Gumbo was decent but came too green and it had flakes of fake crab (krab) in it. Really, fake crab in the Gumbo? Overall, we were pleased but one thing kinda disappointed me. The Oyster Po'boy was just average at best. A po'boy should be made using a French bread, such as a baguette. Classically, you need that slightly hard or crunchy crust with a soft interior, especially when you have a mushy filling such as oysters (which were slightly under cooked) or catfish, you need that texture balance with a hard crusted bread. This is what separates a po'boy from an ordinary sub or grinder. I cannot say I enjoyed the po'boy, I've had much better. What saved it was the excellent coleslaw and very good remoulade sauce. I think the restaurant does a good job but, with such a highly competitive market, in a slightly depressed location, they really need to step it up a notch or two. I spent almost $40 on lunch with tip and I could have done better with the money elsewhere. We will return for a second visit, perhaps to try the breakfast which they serve only on Sunday and perhaps another lunch or dinner and hopefully, Bourbon Street has taken notes and improved a bit to keep us coming back. I will be happy to revise this review with more positive impressions but for now, I am giving it an average three stars.

My fiance and I were looking for something different to have for dinner last night and boy did we find it. We started with the gumbo and alligator bites. Soo good. He got the shrimp po boy sandwich. He said it was the best sandwich he's ever had. I ordered the frog legs, they were succulent and seasoned well. Our server was so friendly and highly knowledgeable. Great service. We will be going back for sure. I highly reccomend this place.

This business served great New Orleans style food, with an extensive menu. The service was always outstanding. Sadly, they closed a couple months ago and recently the 'For Sale' signs went up. I certainly wish Andrea & her crew all the best, and I hope to taste her wares again, someday.

Loved this place, as did my two always-hungry teen boys! We started with the alligator bites, which were perfectly breaded - I don't like heavy breading that distracts from the food. The breading here was just enough to enhance the flavor of the food, and it wasn't greasy. Perfect! The bites were served with a remoulade sauce for dipping which we made even better with the addition of some Louisiana hot sauce. I tried a "cup" of the gumbo. I put the word cup in quotes because it was more like a bowl. In fact, all of the portions at this place are huge - you will go home with leftovers! The gumbo was delicious, and very filling. For our entrees, my older son got the ribs - and he couldn't stop raving about them. They were literally fall-off-the-bone, melt in your mouth amazing. He ordered a half-slab, and wound up taking half of that home. My younger son ordered the shrimp po-boy, which when brought to the table, I asked the server "Are you serious?" It was almost as big as he is! Haha.. it was enormous! They were very generous with the large shrimp on the sandwich - which were also fried in that same light batter as was on the alligator. I had the blackened catfish, which were two perfectly cooked large filets. I added a dab of remoulade for perfection. All the entrees come with two sides from a large list. And here is where the restaurant loses a star. The entrees were perfection, but the sides.. not so much. The greens were ok, but had an unusual spice that I didn't much care for. But others may love it, it's just a personal preference. I also ordered Brussels sprouts, and those were tough and very bland - no seasoning, no butter, nothing on them. The mac and cheese was basic and bland as well. However, I will not dismiss this place for the sides because I only tried a few, and the fantastic main dishes more than made up for the shortcomings of those sides. Oh, and did I mention the cornbread? Thick, dense, moist cubes of southern goodness. Yes. The restaurant itself is cozy and has a nice atmosphere (although a little chilly on this cold day). The service was excellent - our server was very friendly, and took the time to explain the specials and the specialties of the house. The menu is as huge as their portions - I was overwhelmed by the array of choices, all of which sounded delicious. I had a hard time deciding what to order! Not complaining, though! Our server was also very attentive - our glasses were constantly refilled without asking. I can't believe this little gem of a place is right down the street. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes, and maybe save room for dessert!

Went there about a year ago after hearing about it from my son. Had shrimp and grits. Outstanding! Will be back in town at the end of March and plan to go back.

Stopped in for lunch and was amazed at how delicious everything was. Alligator bites are fresh and fantastic w the house made remoulade. Low country shrimp and grits and the catfish ponchartrain were amazing. Side of greens and corn bread completed our lunch perfectly. I highly recommend taking the time to come here for some fresh authentic creole cooking! We will definitely be back!

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have tried to eat here on four different occasions, every time I have been here the place was closed although the hours are clearly posted and should be open. It's frustrating when you only get an hour for lunch and are looking to try a new place and every time you are disappointed. In bad need of a new business plan for sure!

Went here on Valentines day around noon with my wife and a friend. We were the only ones there when we walked in (which is fine). We ordered the hush puppies and boudin balls. They came with your classic remoulade sauce and a honey mustard/brown sugar combination for dipping. Both of these appetizers were great. There was a hush puppy in place of a boudin ball on the plate they brought out, but we didn't care. As for the entrees, my wife got the Fried Shrimp Po'boy Sandwich with a side of the Mardi Gras Coleslaw. I had a taste of both and the Po'boy was pretty good. The Mardi Gras Coleslaw was very bitter. Our friend had their half slab of ribs and she said it was great. As for my meal, I decided on their House Specialty - the Catfish Pontchartrain. It is a dish comprised of a bottom layer of dirty rice, followed by two piece of fried catfish and a crawfish étouffée on top. The catfish was soggy (like it had been sitting on the dirty rice for a while), the dirty rice lacked flavor, but the crawfish étouffée was good. One thing that irked me a bit was the fact that our meal continuously came out in pieces. My wife would get something, I would get something, our friend would get something, rinse and repeat. Being the only customers there I don't see why this was the case. I would, and will, go there again in the future, but definitely try something different.

My first visit here was on Sunday. This is traditional as it gets. The owner/chef is from New Orleans. The food and service was spectacular, maybe because it was a slow night, but regardless I will be back for sure and the people I was with all agreed. Hopefully this review will help bring in more guests.

Hands down best New Orleans food in Michigan. This is not to be missed. Although it is easy to miss as I did for a full two years. It's in a tiny strip mall and from the exterior might be a daycare or pet wash, but no, it's a real live authentic New Orleans restaurant. I've been to New Orleans several times and close you eyes and taste the food and you are back there. For real! The menu is interesting...it represents everything that the might be cooking on any given day. So pay attention and make friends with the waiter you're going to need him. Also I hear that on Friday nights they have live music. Make a reservation for that day, otherwise walk right in, this place is yet to be discovered.

We just had dinner there tonight. Five of us. Amazing food, excellent service, and modest prices! A winning combination, if you ask me!! I couldn't even finish a half-portion of the Catfish Pontchartrain and the shrimp Po Boy my husband ordered could easily serve two hungry people. We used to go to Bourbon St. when they were in Eastpointe, and FINALLY made it to their new location! SO happy to see Andrea and her staff in a beautifully decorated dining room. You can still sit at picnic tables outside if you want, but indoors it is very comfortable. GO And bring all your friends!!! You will not be disappointed!!! And did I say, the food is extraordinary??!!!

The service was great and the food even more so! I forgot the name of what I ordered but it was fried catfish on a bed of rice with a red sauce, it was fantastic!

Count my review as 4.5 stars. Hubby and I have been to New Orleans several times, to the South many times, and this food if authentic. I even had fried green tomatoes which were the bomb! My son ordered the catfish with etouffee, and even though he is a big eater, he couldn't finish the meal. But that's okay because he more than welcomed the leftovers. The food is extraordinarily good and authentic, and the service very friendly and knowledgeable. After several trips, my only mediocre experience was ordering a shrimp po boy. While the flavor was excellent, it did appear that the bread was previously frozen because I was a bit chewy. I will try to order it again, though, because this may have been a fluke.

A great experience. I had the catfish over dirty rice covered in étouffée. The fish was crisp without being overlooked. My wife really enjoyed her chicken étouffée and my mother-in-law her half pound of shrimp. We've all been to New Orleans several times, and while we make no claims to experts, we can say that the food was outstanding and absolutely reminded us of New Orleans cuisine. Lots for your money and great service

This is the real deal. The favors are spot on. The portions are huge (I can eat a ton and I couldn't finish it all) I have spent some quality time eating my way through New Orleans, this food matches the good stuff from the Quarter. The value is amazing. I'll be back soon.

What a diamond in the rough ! We've passed this place hundreds of times and finally decided to try it. It's a cute, quaint place. Our waiter was very attentive and informative. At first glance my wife and I were overwhelmed with the choices on the menu. Everything sounded wonderful, matching the mouthwatering smells coming from the kitchen. I decided on the catfish ponchatrain and the wife opted for the stuffed grilled salmon. The catfish was amazing, as was the dirty rice and crawfish étouffée. My wife raved about the salmon, red beans and rice and even the asparagus. The portions were enormous. We took some home so we could sample the homemade deserts. I had the bread stuffing with whiskey sauce and my wife tried the carrot cake. Both were delicious. We will definitely be back to work our way down the menu.

Really good southern cuisine, I really was surprised by how good it was. Nice little hidden gem on the outskirts of Mt. Clemens. Definitely worth a try!

HOO-BABY!!! Hungry? Do yourself a favor and head to this place right now! Went here tonight for dinner on a whim and am now rejoicing. Stepping out of the car on a recent Saturday evening, we were greeted by wonderful Motown hits played by a friendly dj set up outside. The music floated into the restaurant as we dined, adding much to the experience! The inside is cozy and welcoming with comfy chairs and a huge painted mural of Bourbon Street. Very pleasant, though lower light in the evening would be really nice. We were immediately greeted, seated, and served by a personable guy who was so knowledgeable and gracious I thought he was the owner! I had the lemonade infused with fresh fruit-incredibly tasty! I was shocked as our guy came to refill my glass time and time again. Why, thank you! What a menu. Again I was blown away! Creative and complete, I struggled a bit with choosing. But here came our amazing server with the perfect suggestions! The food was nothing short of OUT O' THIS WORLD!! Portions are large, meats and fishes are moist and prepared to perfection. It's a bit pricey, but this kind of eatin' is well worth it. Everything here is prepared with care and expertise. Even the sides are to die for...baked Mac & cheese like my southern granny used to make, served up hot from the oven! My man got the Catfish Pontchartrain, a mountain of catfish fillets atop dirty rice and covered with crawfish etoufee, and it was delectable! My blackened catfish and herbed chicken platter made me want to run out onto Crocker and scream to passers-by how delicious it was. The whole experience was an absolute pleasure! Will be back again and again. They open early on some days and have a breakfast menu too!

I've eaten at Bourbon Street Bistro three times now. Every time was delicious. The restaurant is a bit out of the way and I'm not sure I would have realized what it was the first time if I hadn't been looking for it. The standout dish of my three visits was the catfish pontchartrain. Two perfectly fried catfish fillets on top of dirty rice all smothered in crawfish etouffee. So amazingly good. The NOLA style BBQ shrimp were also great. Sweet, savory, garlicky, slightly spicy and served with plenty of french bread for soaking up the sauce. The fried shrimp, crawfish tails, oysters, and alligator bites are fantastic. Very lightly coated, not over cooked, served with a nice remoulade sauce to dip in. Gumbo, red beans and rice, jambalaya and greens were all really tasty. The cornbread is classic southern style, full of corn flavor, not sweet and slightly dense. They have a case filled with fantastic looking desserts. They have no liquor license but offer strawberry lemonade and freshly brewed iced tea. The service is attentive and helpful. There is a fun mural on the wall of New Orleans.

I lived in New Orleans for 4 years and this place is as authentic as anywhere I've been outside the Gulf South. If you like Cajun and Creole food - or smoked meats! - definitely check this place out.

Ordered the Bourbon Street Gumbo for lunch and the Catfish and Grits for breakfast, both carry-outs. The catfish breading is very good while the grits has some base on the bottom and once mixed with the Grits...Wow! I called them to compliment the Chef and suggest to add some detail to the menu. The catfish and grits is just not catfish and grits. The gumbo is my second time round and yes, hte Jambalaya is good as well. Not the cheapest fare but good food.
